Having lived in Jerusalem for 24 years and being a passionate cook, it is my pleasure to bring the tastes of the Mediterranean to you from my home in Oakland, CA.
For the menu, we will prepare a large variety of "mezze"served with pita bread, such as hummus, tahini, Baba ghanoush, beets, olives, carrots, minced farmer salad, and Persian cucumbers in mint yogurt dressing. This followed by a spicy Moroccan fish course, and for the main course there can be a choice of either pan fried chicken cutlets, or oven roasted chicken. Each entrée selection will follow the traditional Mediterranean spice pallet - most of the spices in my kitchen are directly from Israel!
For beverage, guests can choose either red or white wine, or even beer with the meal. It is actually common to enjoy a beer with this type of food , as meals in Israel are often in a very casually set atmosphere.
The cooking class and dinner will end with a traditional Turkish coffee, minted tea and served with chocolate and cookies!
Please note, the menu can be further customized if needed, and also adjusted for any food preferences or allergies.
As a San Francisco native I have the "cred" needed to infect people with my passion for this great city. I grew up in the Haight Ashbury in the 60's and I've always wanted to give tours about that neighborhood "back in the day". I also know lots of back in the day stories about so many places in the city and can share great memories which can make the tours interesting. Also, I had the honor of being student Mayor for a day with George Moscone and have thrown out the first pitch for a Giants game when they played at Candlestick Park! Full profile ⋅ Leave a Review
