Welcome to the neighbourhood of Vesterbro. This was once (and to some extend still is) the red light district of Copenhagen, filled with prostitutes and drug dealers, but after a gentrification process, Vesterbro has become a popular place to live.

The most famous street, Istedgade (where I lived myself some years ago), is still a very mixed place. At one end you will still find drug dealers, sex shops and prostitutes, but at the other end lies Enghave Park, which is cozy little park filled with couples, and families with young children.

Vesterbro is the best place for hipsters. It is filled with second-hand stores, and small cafes and bars selling specialty beers and old-school cocktails. It is a place which seems to have an abundance of creative personalities in lumberjack shirts and big beards.

This tour starts at the central station and we will move our way through the notorious street Istedgade to the Meatpacking District, a district of Vesterbro, which housed businesses relating to the meat industry for several decades. Today, it has changed into a new creative cluster with a trendy night life.

Others things you will experience on this tour is the worlds smallest hotel and "Skydebanen", the 'shooting range', a recreational park that used to house the Royal Copenhagen Shooting Society back in the 1800s. The fortress-like wall was erected in 1887 to protect people in the streets from stray bullets.
