Learn why Madison Wisconsin tops many national "Best Lists" of places to live, work, and play. This is a walking tour highlighting the buildings, places, people, and events that helped establish this city's playful reputation as MadTown or (in the words of a former Governor)..."a fifty-four square mile jurisdiction that fortunately is surrounded by reality." Stops include the iconic Wisconsin State Capitol (with a dome a mere three feet lower than the US Capitol). Monona Terrace Convention Center whose classic design was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. Hear the legend and lore of Lakes Monona and Mendota which confine the vibrant city isthmus. Review State Street pub and grub options. See the University of Wisconsin's hallowed Bascom Hill, Observatory Scenic Lake Overlook, and the famous Union Terrace. Tour stops may vary slightly to suit the interests and needs of each tour group. Good walking shoes are advised along with an ability to walk at least one mile.
