In the north of Majorca, at the spurs of the Tramuntana's Mountain Range, there is a fable town. A town that witnessed the birth of great poets, devoted teachers and unforgettable heroes. A place where uncountable moments of joy happened; but it is also a land that went through the worst of misfortunes. A town whose people celebrate centenary festivities to honor who they were and to never forget who they are now. It is a corner of the world that overfills with legends and history. This magical spot is the town of Pollença.

Join me on The medieval town of Pollença tour and know a bit more about Majorca's past!

We will start at St. Domingo's Convent, where we will unveil old struggles among religious orders in Pollença. Then, we will be headed to the Main Square. There we will try to picture how the life of a 13th century's Majorcan village was, depicting and ordinary day at the old public market and discovering the festivities that represented the spirit and feelings of a whole society.
We will get an insight into a fascinating tradition: the Moors and Christians Battle, the most epic performance on the island. Strolling through Pollença's old streets we will unveil all the true facts that originated this centenary celebration. You will also have the chance of climbing The Calvary, a hill connected to the old town through a staircase of 365 steps. On the top of it, you will be amazed when you find out who the most powerful Pollença's governors were: the Templar Knights. But this Calvary hides more than only one secret…
Finally, we will descend the hill towards the Roman Bridge.

At the end of our tour we will have our lunch/dinner in a familiar restaurant located in the old town.

Hey, my name is Albert! I am a Bachelor's Degree holder in History and I have been working as a Licensed Tourist Guide for more than two years. I do historical tours around Mallorca and, specially, in its capital: Palma. Since I was a kid my passion has always been History. I am very enthusiastic for Palma because I think my city holds one of the most important monumental sets in Europe: Palma's old town. That's why I'm trying really hard that what I actually love in life be seen by everybody as true profession, not only a hobby. I am proud to say I am getting it so far. History is my life and what I do best is bringing people back to the past through our wonderful heritage. If you ever thought history was a boring thing, I'll be glad to prove that you couldn't be more wrong. I encourage you to join me and you will realize how thrilling is knowing what happenned centuries ago on the very same streets we are walking by today. Full profile Leave a Review
