The north Georgia mountains are full of hidden gems and unique experiences. The adventurers over at onlyinyourstate.com have assembled a unique road trip that visits some of the most captivating waterfalls the state has to offer. We will spend our weekend hiking to and exploring each of them. Starting at Amicalola Falls State Park, we will have a chance to see the southeast's largest cascading waterfall from bottom to top and then back again. We will then make our way over to DeSoto, Helton Creek and Raven Cliff before having dinner at one of Helen's many unique restaurants. This will be followed by an overnight stay in Georgia's famous Alpine city (camping site or hotel, it's your choice). The next morning, we will visit Anna Ruby Falls, then drive up to Ammons Falls in Rabun County, followed by the famous Tallulah Falls and Toccoa before heading back to our starting point at Amicalola. We can also stop for lunch at the legendary Cupboard Cafe before leaving Rabun County.

The meeting point is flexible and can include a spot close to Atlanta or the initial site, depending on the participant's preference and familiarity with the area. The actual arrangement of hikes is also flexible.

Please note: some of these hikes come with mileage. Raven Cliff Falls, for example, is about 5.5 miles round trip over rugged terrain. Please ensure that you are capable of hiking several miles each day (plenty of breaks can be taken during each).

I love the serenity of nature and the unique experiences found while exploring the North Georgia Mountains' expansive trail network. Although I live in a suburb of Atlanta, this is where most of my free time is spent. I have completed Georgia's entire segment of the Appalachian Trail and have discovered many of the region's hidden gems that even lifelong residents remain unaware of. I would love to share my experiences with others and help them explore another side of Georgia's outdoor scene that most don't even realize exists. Exploring north Georgia's trails is among the most exciting things to do in the southeastern United States. Full profile Leave a Review
