If you're looking for something to do in the southeastern region of the United States, Lookout Mountain is the perfect place to start. Lookout Mountain is a unique ridge in the Appalachians that stretches across 3 states, including a small corner in Georgia. What the mountain lacks in exposure to Georgia it makes up for with some of the most unique outdoor experiences in the state and even southeastern U.S.

The trip begins with Rock City, a unique destination offering incredible views and bizarre rock formations. Rich cultural and geological history have earned this place international fame and a spot in National Geographic's "USA 101".

A short drive away, Cloudland Canyon offers a phenomenal experience unlike anything else in Georgia. The canyon's ridge offers incredible views across the North Georgia Mountains. Rock formations greet visitors as they hike to the canyon's floor, which itself is a hermetical place adorned with raging rapids and waterfalls. There is much to learn about our rich culture and incredible planet along the way, though the pedagogy can be minimal if desired.

The meeting place can be a bit flexible. Chattanooga is likely the most convenient city to the area, especially for those unfamiliar with the region. However, visitors from Atlanta or any other nearby city are also welcome to attend. Carpools can be arranged in both Atlanta and Chattanooga (in addition to most areas in between).

I love the serenity of nature and the unique experiences found while exploring the North Georgia Mountains' expansive trail network. Although I live in a suburb of Atlanta, this is where most of my free time is spent. I have completed Georgia's entire segment of the Appalachian Trail and have discovered many of the region's hidden gems that even lifelong residents remain unaware of. I would love to share my experiences with others and help them explore another side of Georgia's outdoor scene that most don't even realize exists. Exploring north Georgia's trails is among the most exciting things to do in the southeastern United States. Full profile Leave a Review
