Although Shanghai is one of China’s most developed cities, its history as a water village and later on as a major coastal town and port is still evident throughout the city. This tour will take you to see the best modern and ancient aspects of this city, in just half a day.
What You Can Expect：
In the morning, we will come and pick you up from your hotel, and take you to the Confucius Temple, which was historically significant in promoting the doctrine of both Confucius and Mencius, as well as their disciples, throughout the city. Afterwards, we’ll take you for a tea ceremony, so that you can learn all about the importance of tea in Chinese culture, and the traditional ways that tea is brewed here. You’ll find it is very different from at home.
After you’ve finished your tea ceremony, we will go to the Yu Gardens, which used to be a wealthy Chinese family’s traditional private garden, over 400 years ago.
From here on, head toward the Bund, where you’ll catch spectacular views of the dazzling cityscape. The bund is lined with impressive neo-classical buildings, dating back to Shanghai’s grandest days. Many banks and trading companies from different countries built impressive offices here in the early 20th century. The boulevard was also home to the Masonic Club, the Shanghai Club, and the consulates of Russia and the United Kingdom.
You can choose to stay here, or be taken back to your hotel on the bus.
