Get out of the city for the day with a trip to one of Shanghai’s most famous nearby water towns: Zhujiajiao. You’ll get an idea of what Shanghai used to look like, and enjoy a luxury cruise and buffet.
What You Can Expect:
Zhujiajiao, also known as “the Venice of Shanghai”, has been around for at least 5,000 years: archaeological evidence from that long ago has been found in the area. Endowed with another elegant name - 'Pearl Stream' - the small town is the best-preserved among the four ancient towns in Shanghai. Unique old bridges across bubbling streams, small rivers shaded by willow trees, and houses with courtyards are all attached. The village makes a huge difference from the bustling city. Cruising on the Huangpu River is the best way to appreciate shanghai dramatic and splendid night views, it has become a must for most visitors to Shanghai.
After your visit to Zhujiajiao, be driven back to Shanghai, where you’ll visit a Silk Museum. You’ll be able to learn about the importance of silk in Chinese traditional culture, and how silk is made these days.
Following on from the silk museum, you’ll go on a cruise along the Huangpu River, the artery of the city. You’ll be able to take in the iconic Shanghai skyline at night, for plenty of great photo opportunities. The cruise will also have a buffet on board.
