Overview
Although Shanghai is one of China’s most developed cities, its history as a water village and later on as a major coastal town and port is still evident throughout the city. This tour will take you to see the modern and ancient Shanghai, introduce you to a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and the Yu Garden and the Old Town enjoy the bazaars.

What You Can Expect:
In the morning, you’ll meet your local English-speaking tour guide in the lobby of your hotel, and they will accompany you to visit the People’s Square. The People’s Square is the center of Shanghai city, and gives great insight into the grandeur of the city.

Afterwards, we’ll take you to the Confucius Temple, which was historically significant in promoting the doctrine of both Confucius and Mencius, as well as their disciples, through the city. From here on, head toward the Bund, where you’ll catch spectacular views of the dazzling cityscape. Then we will go for lunch, where you’ll be able to try real Chinese food. Following lunch you’ll visit the Shanghai arts and crafts store, where you can get some souvenirs for friends and family at home at reasonable prices. After you’ve finished shopping, we will go to the Yu Gardens, which used to be a wealthy Chinese family’s traditional private garden, over 400 years ago.

The final stop on this tour is Xintiandi and the French Concession, a beloved tree-lined neighborhood, where you will be able to see some of Shanghai’s hippest bars and restaurants. At this point you can either decide to be taken back to your hotel by bus, or you can choose to stay out and check out the restaurants and bars and find your own way back.
