Hong Kong, meaning fragrant harbor in Cantonese, is a city with multiple personalities as a result of being both Chinese and under British colonization. Enjoy this half day island tour of Hong Kong, including the most important sights such as Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay and Aberdeen Fishing Village.
What You Can Expect:
Your tour guide will come to your hotel to pick you up, and then take you on your tour. The first stop on your tour is Victoria Peak, probably Hong Kong’s most famous tourist destination. As early as the 19th century, the peak has attracted European residents because of its views and its temperate climate compared to the sub-tropical climate of the rest of Hong Kong. The peak offers incredible views over Central, Victoria Harbor, Lamma Island, Kowloon Peninsula, and Hong Kong’s surrounding islands.
After your visit to Victoria Peak, we’ll take you to Repulse Bay, which is primarily a well-to-do residential area with a relaxed, resort-like atmosphere. The wide beach is popular with residents and great for sandy strolls. The Lift Guard Club built in traditional Chinese style, features statues of Kwun Yum and Tin Hau, both traditionally considered to be protectors of fishermen. There are also lots of restaurants and shops around here.
Finally we’ll take you to Aberdeen Fishing Village, which is home to hundreds of people living on fishing junks, juxtaposed against a modern high-rise community. Take a sampan ride to get a close-up look at this unusual way of life. For your own waterborne experience, board one of the two floating restaurants, including Jumbo, the world’s largest.
After the tour, we will take you back to your hotel to spend the rest of your day as per your own itinerary.
