Lantau Island, the largest of Hong Kong’s islands and twice the size of Hong Kong Island, has a long history and beautiful nature spots. This bus tour takes you to a pristine beach, a traditional fishing village, lush valleys, soaring mountains, and a vegetarian lunch.
What You Can Expect:
In the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and take you to a pristine beach. You’ll hop aboard a ferry for a spectacular ride through the busy harbor past ocean-going ships to Lantau Island where you’ll board a private coach to the beautiful Cheung Sha Beach. After a visit to the beach, it’s on to Tai O, a unique fishing village mostly located on the banks of the river where many of the homes are built on stilts. Locally, these houses are known as pang uks.
Then your coach will follow a winding road up the mountain to Ngong Ping plateau where you’ll visit the majestic giant Buddha statue and the nearby Po Lin Monastery. Ample time is allowed for a guided tour of the monastery and the Giant Buddha Exhibition Hall.
A vegetarian meal is served in the monastery; follow by a visit to the culturally themed Ngong Ping Village of Ngong Ping 360. Ngong Ping 360 is one of Hong Kong’s newest attractions, a cable car between Tung Chung, on the north coast of Lantau, and Ngong Ping, a hilly, once-remote area. The tour ends with a spectacular ride aboard the Ngong Ping Skyrail, a 20-25 minutes’ cable car ride offering stunning views going down from Ngong Ping plateau to Tung Chung New Town near the airport. Don’t forget to take plenty of pictures along the way!
