To immerse yourselves in the authentic modern Venetian lifestyle on a route that will take you through original areas of the city not covered by common tours.
To learn how classic landmarks such as the Rialto, the Church of San Giacomo dell'Orio, the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista and the “red light district”.
To discover the surreal atmosphere of times long past yet still alive today within the city in the best way possible, walking the streets while tasting traditional delicacies.
The tour will commence in Campo di San Giacomo dell’Orio where one can still breathe in a genuine Venetian atmosphere. Here we shall visit the Church with its magnificent "Carena di Nave" wooden vaulted ceiling and masterful altarpiece by Lorenzo Lotto.
We will then reach the renowned Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, sitting just outside typical tour routes. It is rarely visited but we will expose its hidden history with its artistic and architectural peculiarities. We will cross the Ponte delle Tette (Bridge of Tits) into Calle delle Carampane the ‘red light’ district of 16th century Venice with its debauched tales of famous harlots and strict Senators.
Continuing onto Campiello degli Albrizzi we will take a moment to admire the Albrizzi Palace to this day owned by the Albrizzi family since its construction in the 17th century. Arriving next in Rialto we will focus on the role the area held over the years since its establishment as the first settlement of the city and the curious stories of its history.
We will stop at winery founded in 1462 that is now the emblem of the classic Venetian ‘Bacaro’. In this winery one does not stand but rather leans on the exquisite wooden counter, one does not drink spritz but rather accompanies a fine wine with delicious “francobollo” (stamp sized) nibbles, paninetti and traditional appetisers: cicchetti, octopus, cod, cheese, vegetables and meatballs.(Price doesn't include Food, Drinks and Admission tickets).
