If you like shell collecting at a beautiful, sunny beach in Florida, then this experience might be for you.

I am a marine biologist with a bachelor’s degree from Eckerd College located in Saint Petersburg, Florida so I know the surrounding area and the wildlife. I am a teacher and have also worked at Sea World so I know how to provide an entertaining eco tour. I have some great stories.

What I provide during my morning or late afternoon experience is my knowledge of marine life. I pick a super area for shell collecting near one of the lovely local restaurants in St. Pete Beach also not too far from the restrooms.

I usually bring a beach umbrella, sunblock, cooler with water and drinks, plastic bags, and snacks like fruit, apples, bananas, goldfish crackers, bags of chips, and walk with you through collecting some of the local shells to bring home.

I do not collect live animals during my trips. I can help identify some of the species as we collect and I bring some guidebooks to also help with the identification. There are some lovely shells like whelks, pen shells, scallops, top snails, ceriths, worm snails, periwinkles, slipper shells, clams, mussels, kitten paws, jingles, and who knows what we will find during the next trip.
