About this experience:
Do paper is used for making the famous Dong Ho folk paintings. Aside from its traditional value, Do paper gained its popularity because of its durability, toughness, and delicate patterns unique to each surface. In this activity, you will have chance to discover many interesting things behind this long-lasting paper craft and, you will learn about the beauty lying under rustic yet sophisticated woven fibers of Do paper.

By booking this tour, you have helped in reviving the dying art. As Vietnam has developed, many of its traditions have steadily declined and are on the verge of fading from people’s memories. This project aims to revive people’s interest in the traditional materials like Do paper and get them to learn more about Vietnamese folk arts. In addition to traditional value, you will also contribute to the local economy by trading products made by ethnic and rural women in this projects. We pledge that our artisans are paid properly according to their products’s worthiness, thus the livelihood improvement.

Note: We have a team of local guides in each communities and one of them will be with you for this experience.

Highlights of the tour:
• Learning through the whole process of making Do paper from the scratch
• Working with craftsmen from the Muong ethnic minority in the North of Vietnam.
• Making your own paper with creativity and decorating your work with flowers, leaves or plants.
• Obtaining an insight of the livelihood of Muong ethnic minority in the North of Vietnam.

9.30 a.m. Warm welcome from villagers.
Introduce Zó project and paper-making history
Explain paper-making process and practice making paper with Artisans.
10.30 a.m. Make your own paper workshop then bring your work home.
12.30 p.m. Lunch break
2.00 p.m. Resting and walking around the village
3.00 p.m. Come back to Hanoi
