There are more murals in the SF Mission District than any other neighborhood in the country! Besides the classically known alleys - Clarion and Balmy - many back streets filled with lesser known but equally stunning murals and works of art await your discovery.

You (and your companion) ride comfortably and safely in the front of this custom-built pedicab imported from Indonesia. Unlike rickshaws, becaks (pronounced "bet-'shaws") enhance the sightseeing experience by having the driver behind you, out of your line of vision. Don’t forget your camera!

On our ride I share stories behind the art, show you hidden treasures of the neighborhood, and point out funky cafés, bars and restaurants not always found by tourists.

End your ride at the best known taqueria in the Mission for an agua fresca or a mouthwatering taco, at the historic Mission Dolores, or Dolores Park, your choice.

We’ll meet at Coffee Mission which is on the SW corner of the 24th St BART Plaza. I’m pretty easy to spot once you’re there.

The pedicab offers a comfortable intimate ride for 1 or 2 people up to 350lbs combined. There’s a blanket to keep your legs warm, a sound system, and a canopy for rain, sun protection, or privacy.

Exploring from the comfortable front seat of a becak is a unique and delightful experience.

As a child visiting Indonesia, I fell in love with their pedicabs, known locally as becaks. After 20 years living here and working in tech, it was time for me to get outside and introduce visitors to my neighborhood in San Francisco. Last year, I went back to Java and worked with local craftspeople to build my dream becak for KaiTours. Full profile Leave a Review
