Reviews for Best of Shanghai in 1 Day

I scaled my tour down to half day. It meant a very quick visit to many of the sights. Met the guide at my hotel which was convenient, but then we spent 35-40 minutes just getting to the first site. Would be better to meet the guide at the Bund. Also, I had wished the guide would have pointed out some of the most interesting items within the Shanghai Museum. At this price, I expected to be shown and told about some key items. Instead, guide gave me about 30 min to explore on my own. Not a good use of time. Loved visitng the French Concession and seeing this wonderful neighborhood. Walking through Yuyuan Park was also a real highlight. Nice to be able to customize the experience, and make the most of a short time frame.

My wife and I had just arrived in Shanghai at the start of a six week work-stay and wanted to get a quick general sense of the city. Janny offered the perfect combination of broad knowledge and site-specific facts. Every question we posed led to a lively conversation about the city's culture and history. Janny also provided a wealth of practical information: how the taxis and subways worked, where to get a great meal at a reasonable price, the best places to buy a worthwhile take-home artifact - even the best way to eat a sip-dumpling! She adapted quickly to our requests and was flawlessly respectful of our desire now and then to have a moment by ourselves to take in a new experience. We are planning a few upcoming day trips and Janny will be the first person we call.
