Suzhou formerly romanized as Soochow, is a major city located in southeastern Jiangsu Province of East China, about 100 km northwest of Shanghai.
It is a city with historical significance and beautiful landscape gardens. It is regarded as "heaven on earth" since the Song Dynasty(960-1279), and Suzhou has been an important center for China's silk industry.
Suzhou is also very much a water town - it's thoroughly criss-crossed with canals and bridges - and you can still see traces of a very old lifestyle centered around the canals.
Within this trip, you will visit the Humble Administrator's Garden(RMB50-70), the most beautiful and famous one on the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites.
The Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest and most renowned classical landscape garden inSuzhou, featuring natural arrangements in space. The administrator became humble after being accused of corruption. It was a scholar garden during the T'ang dynasty and a monastery garden during the Yuan dynasty.
Depending on your time, we also recommend the Tiger Hill(RMB40-60), and Suzhou Museum.
