Learn traditional techniques of ancient textiles in a Peruvian village, stay in a local families homes, and experience life like it was thousands of years ago as an insiders, guided by an experienced traveler and friend of the locals.

This is a once in a life time opportunity to be guided by life like it was thousands of years ago! In addition to visiting this village you will also be able to learn the traditional crafts and help the communities develop in areas that need assistance like gardening, harvesting, or teaching depending on the season and what is needed to be done to help.

Located on an island called Amantani, inside lake titticakki the highest navigatable lake in the world at 3,812 meters above sea level! We will guide you through the process of shearing a sheep, spinning your own wool with the traditional drop spindle and then in the final week learn some traditional techniques of either knitting weaving crochet or all of the above. You will go home with skills that you will be able to use for the rest of your life! Amantani is an island totally made up of artisans who are all farmers as well, dotted with organic potatoe, fava,quinoa and beans all throughout the island what a delight to see growing and knowing that these communities are examples of truly sustainable communities as these communities have been this way since the time of the incas!

You will be treated and welcomed as if you are family. Family style meals all from local organic produce. Sometimes fresh trout caught in the lake! Wake up to the lake as it is minutes from the homes. Go for a swim if you can bare the cold water! Take a stroll through the island to see ancient ruins Or go to the top of the island to watch the sun set and a soccer game at the amazing soccer field!
