In all my travels around the world and seeing many oceans and coastlines, Oregon’s coastline in by far my favorite! It is graced with unforgettable vistas, dramatic cliffs, offshore rocks and monoliths, whales and sea lions; wide sandy beaches; majestic capes; historic lighthouses; old growth forests and lovely small beach towns which artists and artisans call their home. Along the coast we may visit the charming town of Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock (which is protected as part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge), the wonderful town of Manzanita, Short Sand Beach, Ecola State Park, Neahkahnie Point ,and of course will have spectacular views of the dramatic Pacific Ocean Coastline. On this tour of the Oregon Coast you will be able to maximize your beach time!
Neahkahnie Point is an inspiring place, where the Tillamook tribe believed their most powerful god resided. In fact, the name Neahkahnie comes from their words Ne ("place of") and Ekahnie ("supreme deity"). You will see south for 30 miles from here!
Manzanita is a beautiful oceanside city with seven miles of sandy beach and the third most photographed scenery in Oregon. While here you can enjoy a spectacular walk by the ocean or explore their lovely downtown.
Free time & lunch in Cannon Beach: A quaint little beach town with shops, art galleries, restaurants and candy shops and of course the beautiful Cannon Beach itself.
Haystack Rock is one of Oregon’s most recognizable landmarks, home to colorful tidepools and diverse bird life. It rises 235 feet from the edge of the shoreline. At low tide, you can walk up to it and find colorful sea stars and other fascinating tidepool creatures!
Ecola State Park is situated on the edge of coastal cliffs. You will love the views of the Oregon Coast, wind-swept trees, dramatic cliffs, a historic light-house, and of course the majestic Pacific Ocean. We will also see Roosevelt Elk if we're lucky!
