Learn & Practice PORTRAIT lighting in studio
Posing, strong rapport, clear communication, and great lighting are just some of the key ingredients to a good studio portrait.
Although lighting setups are everywhere, not everyone understands why a light was placed in a certain position or aimed at a particular angle. Copying setups without a strong understanding of the hows and whys often results in disappointing portraits.
Four hours of hands-on training with in-class projects and a final model shoot, this Studio Portraiture workshop aims to equip you with a strong foundation in two key areas:
1. Lighting concepts so you’d be able to modify an existing setup to achieve your own creative ideas, troubleshoot lighting problems, and create your own setups that others will be wanting to follow.
2. Posing, directing and communication techniques that help to make your pro or amateur model look as good as possible.
Vincent Sung Professional Photographer / Travel & Lifestyle photo-journalist / Creative Director / Contents Producer Hello, I grew up and lived in Belgium where I studied Visual Communications & Journalism before apprenticing with some renowned photographers in Europe (Paris and Brussels). In 1992, I moved to Paris to take on assignments for a variety of Parisian modeling agencies, building models’ portfolios and worked for a number of fashion magazines (Marie Claire bis and Marie Claire) In 1996, my 'Korean roots' called me back and I decided to move back to Seoul, South Korea. There, I worked for the Korean editions of prominent international fashion magazines such as ELLE, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, Noblesse, Haute, frequently traveling on assignments that took me elsewhere in Asia, Europe and USA (San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles). Early 2010, my globetrotter mindset and lifestyle, with a special affection for S.E. Asian countries, made me decide to relocate to Bangkok, Thailand. From here, I have contributed to publications about travel and lifestyle featured in: DestinAsian, Lifestyle+Travel, Asean Tripper, Eloquence, Elle Indonesia, Conde Nast Traveller UK, World Travel magazine, NAA magazine, magazine Latitudes, Wanderlust. At present, I share my time between SEOUL and BANGKOK (I just finished the first Asian edition of Cool-Cities.com/Bangkok). When not writing - shooting a travel feature, I also teach photography courses and organize themed workshops.
