Thai-Lao Food Adventure

Los Angeles is known for the melting pot of diversity. One of it's cultural and gastronomical gem is Hollywood Thai Town, the part of Hollywood where restaurants are open until 2am to satisfy late night cravings of tart, creamy soups, curries, and noodles.

Thai food is well known internationally both travelers and foodies are familiar with it. So I'd like to introduce Laotian or Lao food of the country Laos which is located at the boundary of north eastern of Thailand.

This region have an influence of Lao cuisine "Laotian/Isan". The famous Thai Papaya Salad or "som tum" in Thai and "tom sum" in Lao originated from this area.

Many Lao restaurants are established under the guise of Thai restaurants and Thai/Lao restaurants to entice mainstream customers. Because most Americans are unfamiliar with Laotian food, Lao entrepreneurs have aimed to acquire more business by advertising themselves as Thai restaurants. These restaurateurs would then incorporate Lao dishes onto the menu.

This food adventure includes:

1. Tasting authentic Lao dishes.
2. A little bit of Lao food history & politics.
3. Some secret ingredients, where to get them or make them yourself.

If you are a food adventurer, this is a MUST have on your list!

*This is NOT a walking tour of Thai town.
We will meet in a restaurant to sit and enjoy Lao dishes.

This food adventure is weekends only, but I accept special arrangement for weekdays w/ 1 week prior notice depending on my availability.

It's a wonderful journey and my first time to come to the USA. Teresa is so kind and showed me a lot of places. I like the Thai noodles and the Thai Iced tea. I highly recommend this experience.
