Barcelona and Gaudi is the portrait of this sinuous dream that took Gaudí from his interest in the social, through which he envisioned Barcelona in full metropolitan expansion at one Barcelona, until his absorption in the divine, seeing Monumentality as the final synthesis of the architectonic and becoming “the last cathedral’s builder”.

While covering the synthesis of his Modernist work (Casa Batlló house and Casa Milà) we will talk about anarchism and beatification, about deliquescent surfaces and wooded structures, of catalanism, bourgeoisies and bishops and we will try to learn a bit of his Architecture aswell.

Come on an urban expedition that invites you to discover the architecture of Barcelona through the works of its Masters, examples that generate the city and are the clearest cultural expression of a society as complex as the Catalan one.

Starting at the crossroads between Passeig de Gracia and Gran Via will walking around the Modernist Path at the Example (El Pla Cerdà). During this derive we will see the Casa Lleó Morera of Lluis Domenech i Montaner the Casa Ametller of Josep Puig i Cadafalch, the Casa Batlló de Antoni Gaudí, the Fundación Antoni Tapies de Lluis Domenech i Montaner and alteration by Abalos Sentkiewicz, the Casa Milà of Antoni Gaudi and some amazing courtyards of Barcelona.

My name is Miguel Angel Borrás and together with my wife Elodie Grammont we launch 9 years ago the Barcelona Architecture Walks, a series of urban walking tours led by architects, inviting you to discover our city through the buildings and lessons of its Masters. All the guides of Barcelona Architecture Walks are practicing architects, most of whom are professors of architecture, as well as architecture critics. This variety of top professionals provides a wide spectrum of knowledge on a huge range of topics that only Barcelona Architecture Walks can provide. We walk with our own critical and contemporary perspectives and a wry smile on our faces because… we love architecture! In 2014, we were listed as one of the world’s top five architecture tours by The Sydney Morning Herald. In 2017 few weeks ago, we were selected by The week Portfolio (UK) as one of the five best Architectural tours in Europe. In the last six years (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018), Barcelona Architecture Walks has been honored with the Certificate of Excellence from the travel portal TripAdvisor, which awards the distinction to the top-performing 10% of businesses that deliver consistently great service.
