Pittsburgh's industrial past is not only written into history books, stained buildings, and memories, but it is also written into the city's landscape.
The city has an astronomical number of stairs-- 712 sets with 44,645 steps totaling about 13 miles. These stairs, in addition to offering great city views, were used for industrial workers to get from their homes in the hills to the mills on the rivers.

Born and raised in Eerie, I made the great migration to Pittsburgh one Fall and fell in love. I've been in the city for 5 years now. I work as a freelance photojournalist, a marketing & outreach coordinator at Allegheny Land Trust. I run for fun, which is how I found Pittsburgh's city steps and many other cool things. I play locally designed board games and live action sports with a fantastic local organization aiming to create fun for everyone.
