Film Photo Crash Course & Walking Tour

with Alexander

Method Photo is a traditional photography ‘crash course’ designed to provide a basic understanding of the terminology and behavior of SLR cameras. Learning about traditional cameras helps you better understand how images are captured, and how the way you shoot and set up the camera affects the photographs you get!

Our courses all take place in New York City (Manhattan, to be exact). Each course begins with a forty five minute discussion of photography vocabulary, rules of the camera, and a brief history of photography - then, we hit the streets.

Everyone is assigned a vintage Canon 35mm SLR camera and a roll of film then we take a lovely 1-1/2hr walking tour in some of New York City’s most recognized places. Depending on the class we can walk the High Line and Times Square, Central Park and the Museum Mile, or the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights & The Promenade. Some education, memories, and a unique NYC Keepsake!

Each course can be subject to change depending on where the participants want to go, what the prefer to shoot, or where the light will be the best depending on the time of day.

We can visit Times Square, Central Park, Park Avenue, Grand Central, Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Bridge... the list goes on and on, as long as we've all got Metro Cards the possibilities are endless!

I grew up around photography, studied it in college, and have worked as a product and still life photographer. I love teaching with film because it's a great hands-on experience, a great new way to see the city, and you get to take home a real physical picture that you made! Full profile Leave a Review
