You have a free morning or afternoon, or a full day, you're itching to go for a good road ride but have no idea where to go? You know the feeling. Join me as I offer a variety of experiences around Geneva. The pace can be moderate or fast, the terrain rolling hills or challenging climbs. The scenery is beautiful, the traffic mostly light, as we stick to backroads as much as possible.
If you wonder why hire a guide, I can use a bike map/GPS and figure out my own route. Yes, but you might end up riding on busy roads, climbing more than anticipated, making a wrong turn, or not knowing about the cool places to stop for coffee. I’ve ridden these routes many times, have tried alternatives, added a few interesting detours; this means we ride, enjoy the scenery, without stopping to consult a map or GPS. We can also make the ride a longer or shorter if we choose.
Note on the duration: Vayable only allows me to put in a fixed time, so I chose 3 hours, representative of shorter rides. Longer rides can last 6-8 hours.
I offer a variety of rides: modest 45-60 km of rolling hills for half day rides; 100-130 km with challenging climbs for full day rides. The shorter rides take us through vineyards and small farming villages, the longer rides in nearby French Alps or Jura. A train ride enables us to go further afield. An overnight trip can be arranged if you want to venture into the Swiss Alps!
The pace is moderate: typical speeds on flat 25-30 km/hr. We take time to stop and take photos. You set the pace!
Half day: $50 one person; $35 2nd person; $25 each additional person up to 5 total.
Full day: $85 one person; $65 2nd person; $40 each additional person up to 5 total.
Half day rides are roughly 9:00-12:30 or 13:30-17:00
Full day rides are roughly 9:00-17:00.
I do have 3 decent road bikes for rent (S,M,L) on Spinlister. There's a bike shop in Geneva that rents road bikes.
No cancellation fee with 2 days notice, or if the weather turns sour.
I first moved to Geneva when I was 5 years old, and I've loved it ever since. I rode my bike everywhere when I was young; but then I left to pursue my education in the US. This led to a career, marriage, family, and I have finally returned to Geneva. In the past 4 years I've made some amazing nearby cycling discoveries: the road riding opportunities are fantastic, and I love to share them with other bicyclists. My professional life is partly passion too: I advise cities (in the US) on how to design streets that are less hostile to people not in cars. Full profile ⋅ Leave a Review
