Private Bilingual Interpreter in Paris

Theories on why most French are not too keen on speaking English, and why they generally trail behind other Europeans in mastering any foreign language, abound. Is it a certain perfectionism and restraint inherent to the culture (which makes it difficult to attempt to communicate in a language other than your own), or perhaps the famous feeling of "French exceptionalism?" My Parisian friends speak of traumatic high-school English classes, with their heavy emphasis on grammar and pronunciation. And besides, if foreign films and TV series in France are dubbed rather than subtitled into French, why make the effort anyway?
Whatever the reasons may be, I will make sure language and cultural barriers don't get in the way of your stay in this magnificent city! Whether you need assistance communicating with local clients, friends, service providers or if you're attending a conference, conducting research in Paris, or doing some serious shopping, don't get lost in translation!

I will accompany you on your 3-hour itinerary in which you won't need to worry about misunderstanding or being misunderstood by your French interlocutors.

Having lived, studied and worked in four countries on four different continents, I bring to everything I do the intercultural sensitivity and interpersonal skills developed throughout years of first-hand experience adapting to new surroundings, mastering foreign languages and savoring varied landscapes and flavors. My passion for people, languages, food and style enable me to creatively bridge cultural differences and build strong, fruitful relationships that streamline and enhance the lives of my international clients. After graduating with distinction in English and French literature from Yale University, I attended law school but decided to forego a career in law to become an English teacher and multilingual translator and interpreter for five years. An epicure at heart, I settled in Paris in 2012 and launched Le Bon Vivant Paris, which provides home and lifestyle management solutions to homeowners, expats and travelers.
