Fruitvale Taco Truck Crawl

with Ellen J.

Ellen J.

It's time to discover the best Mexican food in the Bay Area. And no, I'm not talking about San Francisco's Mission District. I'm talking about the amazing collection of taco trucks in Fruitvale, Oakland. I'll show you all the best spots, and can cater to every taste and diet (vegetarian, pescatarian, omnivore)! We'll also talk about the history of Mexican culture in the Bay Area, and the origins of the foods we're eating. If you dig unique foodie experiences, this should be on the top of your list, especially if you're a budget traveler. This is one of the most affordable places to eat by the Bay! A Fruitvale Taco Truck Crawl is a color-filled adventure of amazing sights, smells and sounds. Definitely off the beaten path!

• At least 5 different taco truck stops near Fruitvale station (I can do more!)
• Dessert (did anyone say piping hot churros?)
• a multilingual adventure (I speak fluent French and intermediate Spanish, if you're up for it! Either way there will be lots of Spanish as we order and eat.)
• bring $10-15 cash for tacos, unless you'd like me to make a specified food plan and include it in the price (in general just bring cash is a better option, so people get as much choice as possible!)

Hi, My name is Ellen. I'm a foodie with a love for authentic, local experiences, and currently divide my time between San Francisco and the East Bay. I'm passionate about travel, so when I'm home, I want to be able to share as many of those experiences as I can with those from abroad. I speak fluent French and intermediate Spanish, so I can communicate with you in those languages if you want a non-English tour. I'm also a writer and musician, with an educational background in literature, art history, and ethnomusicology. I've written articles on travel, culture, urbanism and outdoor adventure, which have been published in a variety of magazines. I've also worked professionally as a tour guide in San Francisco. Unsurprisingly, my tours tend to focus on culture! And did I mention that I think the best way to travel is on foot? My first big trip after university was to walk 900km across Spain! So put on your walking shoes, and let's go for a stroll. Full profile Leave a Review
