Learn what your camera can do and see downtown Salt Lake City in a new way (or for the first time!).

We will start out by learning what your camera can do. ISO/Shutter Speed/Aperture. Then we will put that knowledge to use and photography the stunning City Creek Center and make our way over to the beautiful and very visual Temple Square.

This workshop is led by Justin M. Bowen. Justin has led photography workshops for National Geographic Student Expeditions and Canon. He was a staff photographer for Greenspun Media Group in Las Vegas where he shot for a daily newspaper and multiple magazines. His work has been featured with ESPN, SPIN, Las Vegas Magazine, Las Vegas Weekly and many others. Justin has also done work for Operation Smile in Central America, and was the Director of Photography for a non-profit aiding in the Haiti relief efforts shortly after the devastating earthquake.

Photo Workshop 2-3 hours.
Start out at a downtown slc cafe for a some technical talk... becoming familiar with our cameras, will allow us to be able to make more conscientious and deliberate choices when we are shooting.

Hit the streets, photographing throughout City Creek Center. Putting our knowledge to work, photograph the fabulous architecture, wonderful water features, and the hustle and bustle of the people. Make our way over to Temple Square to photograph the majestic grounds, inspiring structures, and the beautiful people...all the while, getting one on one instruction and having your photography questions answered.

Cost includes: Photo Workshop tuition. Must bring camera (preferably a DSLR or similar) .

Justin M.

Justin is a Utah based Photographer whose passion stems from traveling throughout Alaska for 2 ½ years where he was a kayak guide and budding photographer. Shortly after, he hitchhiked the entire country of New Zealand where there was no looking back from his passions. Justin obtained a degree in Visual Journalism from Brooks Institute of Photography. While studying, he was able to travel to Central America to photograph multiple missions for Operation Smile, as well as spend a month in India traveling and photographing the Lepcha people. Shortly after school he interned at VII Photo Agency and attended the Eddie Adams Workshop. Justin has also ventured to and photographed in Estonia, Costa Rica, Panama, Paris, Venice, as well as being ship-wrecked as he sailed the Greek Isles. He visited Haiti shortly after the devastating earthquake where he was Director of Photography documenting a group of doctors, nurses, and interpreters who helped the people recover from that terrible tragedy. Justin also spent multiple years in Las Vegas where he was a staff photographer for a daily newspaper and multiple magazines. Covering everything from food to fashion, sports and entertainment, to breaking news.
