The Sterkfontein Caves is one of South Africa's famous heritage sites, situated in the Cradle of Humankind in the Western part of Gauteng. This unspoilt rural area is abundant with caves, clear steams, indigeneous plants and grassy hilltops. The famous skull known as Mrs Ples was discovered by Robert Broom in 1947. Tours to the caves are physically arduous, but the thrill of knowing the secrets to understanding human ancestry that lurks in the depths of limestones and dolomite make it all worthwhile. A visit to Maropeng less than 10km away takes the visitor back millions of years. Maropeng a Setswana word meaning 'returning to the place of origin'. The Tour takes you on a boat journey through the 4 elements, earth, fire, air and ice. Maropeng captures the significance of Africa as the ancestral home of humankind regardless of religion, beliefs, colour or race.

You are picked up from your place of accommodation, we then drive to the Sterkfontein Caves for an interesting guided tour of an exhibition centre where you can discover the origins of Humankind, we then descend into the depths of the caves admiring the beautiful crystal formations inside the caves, after the tour we stroll along the wooden walkways with views of the scenic Cradle of Humankind. We will have refreshments at Sterkfontein, we then drive+- 10km to Maropeng where we will enjoy a boat ride showing the evolution of the earth and displays of the 4 elements of earth, wind, fire and ice. We then stroll through the exhibits and fossil displays.
On the way back to your accommodation we can take a beautiful scenic route through the Cradle viewing the Witwatersberg Mountains, grasslands and beauty of the landscape.
This is a full day tour all refreshments and snacks are provided, all other purchases are at your own cost. A coffee/restaurant, gift shop are at both sites

I strive to deliver the best that is on offer, a unique, quality filled informative personal tour experience. My passion to becoming a Tourist guide started in 2009 when I first began studying for my Cultural Guiding Course and progressing to becoming a South African National Guide. I am also a qualified Beauty Therapist ( so will be glad to arrange a relaxing Spa Treatment)at any one of the highly recommended Spa Resorts that we have to offer in Gauteng. I am also qualified as a Pharmacist Assistant and was previously working in a Hospital Pharmacy for many years, but my passion for travelling and exploring this wonderful country has taken first priority in my life now. I have set up a small Tour Operating Company which I also operate and take pride in. I am a great supporter of nature conservation especially the protection of endangered species, and I help in protecting our Rhino's from being poached! I enjoy the amazing response that is shown from the tourist when they see the diverse wildlife and the awe inspiring moments of a cultural tribal dance, it is such a pleasure to share those moments and know they will definitely take these splendid memories back home with them, and to be part of that is just amazing! The best part of being a a local guide is conducting a private tour which is so personal and you will feel more comfortable if you have more insight about the guide before going on the tour with them. My tours are family orientated and I will compile a tour to suit you and your families interests. You can also ' hang out with the locals" I can arrange an outing with the local's from shopping to eating with the local's. You can choose what you want to do I will arrange it( within limits)! Come and discover the treasures that our part of the world has to offer and let me take you on a journey to experience " THE ESSENCE OF AFRICA" with a local guide! Full profile Leave a Review
