The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve is set in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, west of Johannesburg. This private game park opened in 1985 with just two white rhinos, but today boasts more than 600 animals. The more than 30 species in the reserve include buffalo, lion, white rhino, wild dog, cheetah, hippo, crocodile and more than 20 antelope species.
The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve has a breeding centre where visitors can learn about endangered species. Among its successful breeding programmes is that of the wild dog, which saw the reserve expand the programme to include Bengal and Siberian tigers and the white lion.
Predators at the reserve are kept in separate enclosures, and visitors can watch them being fed. The Rhino and Lion Park also has a sanctuary for the rare Cape vulture, and many bird species. At the animal creche on certain days you can interact with the lion cubs, cheetah's and other cat species. The Wonder Caves has beautiful stalagmite and stalagtite formations.
I pick you up from your place of accommodation, or Or Tambo Airport/ Lanseria Airport and we will drive through Johannesburg seeing interesting sites on the way, we drive to the Cradle of Humankind to the Rhino and Lion Park along a scenic route. We will then drive to the Wonder Caves for a 1 hour tour of these beautiful caves. We drive along the reserve still seeing antelope, buck and other animals before we go to the animal creche to touch( depending on the day, normally touching is on the weekends) but you can still see a variety of birds , cats such as lion cubs, cheetah's, tigers in this enclosure. We will have a light lunch and refreshments before we head back to Johannesburg via a scenic route. I am flexible so you can include so other sites in this tour. The Wonder Caves has a lot of steps ( need to be fit so this is also optional).
I strive to deliver the best that is on offer, a unique, quality filled informative personal tour experience. My passion to becoming a Tourist guide started in 2009 when I first began studying for my Cultural Guiding Course and progressing to becoming a South African National Guide. I am also a qualified Beauty Therapist ( so will be glad to arrange a relaxing Spa Treatment)at any one of the highly recommended Spa Resorts that we have to offer in Gauteng. I am also qualified as a Pharmacist Assistant and was previously working in a Hospital Pharmacy for many years, but my passion for travelling and exploring this wonderful country has taken first priority in my life now. I have set up a small Tour Operating Company which I also operate and take pride in. I am a great supporter of nature conservation especially the protection of endangered species, and I help in protecting our Rhino's from being poached! I enjoy the amazing response that is shown from the tourist when they see the diverse wildlife and the awe inspiring moments of a cultural tribal dance, it is such a pleasure to share those moments and know they will definitely take these splendid memories back home with them, and to be part of that is just amazing! The best part of being a a local guide is conducting a private tour which is so personal and you will feel more comfortable if you have more insight about the guide before going on the tour with them. My tours are family orientated and I will compile a tour to suit you and your families interests. You can also ' hang out with the locals" I can arrange an outing with the local's from shopping to eating with the local's. You can choose what you want to do I will arrange it( within limits)! Come and discover the treasures that our part of the world has to offer and let me take you on a journey to experience " THE ESSENCE OF AFRICA" with a local guide! Full profile ⋅ Leave a Review
