Manly Beach Running Club is your running support group – members have a range of fitness levels and are a friendly, chatty bunch.
‘The Running Club has a great vibe and everyone’s interested in being together and working out in a friendly environment’, says head trainer Joe Ward. ‘It’s not about split times and what trainers you’re wearing – it’s about getting fit and reaching running goals.’
Manly Beach Running Club meet every morning Monday to Friday at 5:30am at Manly Beach Surf Club. Come along for the 60-minute session and watch the sun pop over the ocean as you run 6-7k, followed by essential core and strength training. What a great start to your day!
We have 10km, half marathon, marathon and ultra marathon training programs to help get you up and running and ready for your next race. We also offer triathlon and IronMan coaching.

Head coach and trainer Joe Ward has a healthy and infectious obsession with fitness – running in particular. His successes in trail running, marathons (he’s run 21 official marathons), long-distance runs (including several 100km races, two 100 mile races GNW 250km run and 240km C2K) plus his experience as an athlete in several sports – rugby, soccer, Muay Thai kickboxing and boxing – means his athletic achievements give him broad expertise in addition to a varied approach to training. He always trains outdoors and his clients are used to getting wet feet. ‘People get a great feeling from training at the beach – there’s a calming influence from being in touch with nature and it’s a gorgeous place to be’, says Joe.
