This one day tour visits Mount Bromo, an active volcano with a peak of 2,300m. The route avoids the tourists by taking a scenic road of high altitude through terraced farming and picturesque Tenggerese villages, to the outer caldera of the volcano. Two viewing points are available with spectacular views above the Sea of Sand towards Mount Bromo and Mount Batok (2,440m). Descending down to the plateau by jeep and across to the access point, participants take guided ponies across to the foot of Mount Bromo and ascend by foot up the side of the volcano and to the rim of the inner caldera. Offered all year round.
Our tours are led by me, an English-speaking expat, who has a thorough knowledge of Java and Madura, having lived in Indonesia for 25 years, and my co-organizer, Samsul, who comes from East Java. With our outstanding network of local contacts we really know Java. I have written numerous articles on Indonesia for magazines, both in Indonesia and internationally. I was a contributor to the most recent edition of the Rough Guide to Indonesia, and my photographs of Indonesia have been published in a variety of magazines. The tours take you to the real Java beyond the obvious tourist spots providing an opportunity for you to explore at first hand the local culture and the hidden beauty of Java. Benefit from our authoritative and intelligent commentary en route, and see places that many have not. Full profile ⋅ Leave a Review
