About New & Noteworthy in Jerusalem
Over the past several years many of the best dining experiences have moved out of the center of the city southward to the German Colony - centered on Emek Refaim Street - and westwards toward Mahane Yehuda. In fact Mahane Yehuda, Jerusalem's main outdoor food market, has become home to a number of fancy restaurants including the famous Machneyuda restaurant.
Night life has also picked up with the opening of Mike's Place downtown and the continued success of The Lion's Den, a sports bar that broadcasts American sports late into the night. In the Talpiot Industrial Zone there are also a number of nightclubs with the Yellow Submarine the best know.
Outside the city a number of wineries and microbreweries have sprung up just a short drive outside the city.
