About New & Noteworthy in Melbourne
Melbourne is truly cosmopolitan and it's mostly us Melburnians frequenting the shops bars and restaurants. This means there is always somewhere new to go for shopping, drinking and dining.
More specifically there is the brand new Emporium Melbourne, a shoppers paradise in the centre of the city featuring a host of local and international brands.
The Melbourne Star re-opened in December. It's something akin to The London Eye but the back story is more hilarious. Make sure to ask any local about it.
Always check what's on at the ACMI. It's a film and television museum and exhibition space that really gets it right. Past highlights have included exhibitions on Tim Burton, Disney, Hollywood Costume and Music Videos and they are a real treat.
Collingwood and Fitzroy are pretty exciting inner city neighbourhood to spend a bit of time in these days. They're emerging from a long history of crime and poverty into a real hotbed of creativity. Great for eating, drinking, dancing, shopping, graffiti and gallery art.
