The best thing in Rio, by far, is it´s people. The Cariocas are outgoing, fun, active and loves to be outdoors. People from Rio are problably the most receptive in the world, you can be sure that they will do whatever they can to please you. Different religious beliefs and ethnic backgrounds coexist peacefully here. There is room for all, a melting pot of races, colors and creed. And last but not least, they love to party!
Some of the most famous landmarks in addition to the beaches include the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer ("Cristo Redentor") atop Corcovado mountain, named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World; Sugarloaf mountain (Pão de Açúcar) with its cable car; the Sambódromo, a permanent grandstand-lined parade avenue which is used during Carnival; and Maracanã Stadium, one of the world's largest football stadiums.
